The purpose of the Edom Historical Society is to collect, preserve, and interpret for the public benefit, education, and enjoyment  the heritage of Edom, Texas and the surrounding area.

The Edom Historical Society collects, preserves and exhibits principally those artifacts, publications, archival materials, photographs, ephemera, and other items that are relevant to the settlement, early history, and continuing development of Edom, Texas and surrounding areas. The museum limits its acquisitions to only those items for which it can provide care, preservation, storage, and exhibition, and for which it has complete unrestricted title.
